LEARN

National Aquarium of New Zealand

The National Aquarium offers a range of interactive education experiences both on site (Marine Parade) and also at the rocky shore using natural history specimens and technology resources. Sessions are suitable for all year groups, especially Year 7 to Year 13. Step into the science lab and take part in Gas Exchange and Dissection lessons which compliments NCEA 2.6, or head out to the rocky shore in nearby Ahuriri to discover its residents and understand food chains, tidal zones and more. Lessons can be tailored to specific topics for your class.

MTG Hawke's Bay

MTG is Hawke’s Bay’s award winning museum and provides a range of curriculum based programmes for primary, intermediate and secondary schools. These offer a fun, hands-on learning experience including social sciences, history, geography and art. Learn more about the 1931 Earthquake and it's impact on Hawke's Bay. Explore the local history of Te Matau a Maui (Hawke's Bay) locating significant pa sites, landmarks and other geographical features.

Faraday Museum of Technology

The Faraday is a hands on museum displaying static and working examples of old technology. It caters for teachers who want to use their resources to enhance on a chosen subject and allow students to explore the museum, learning by practical experience. Young people are encouraged to handle the exhibits and operate the equipment just as their elders did in the early part of last century.

Ocean Spa

Napier's premier heated pool and fitness complex, Ocean Spa is located on Marine Parade. Their open-air heated pools and spas offer panoramic ocean views and include a 25 metre lap pool, relaxing pool, active pool and two spa pools. Small group bookings available.

Par2 MiniGolf

Par2 is located next to the Soundshell on Marine Parade, has two 18-hole putting courses and is the perfect place for some friendly competition between students and adults. Group bookings are available.

Bay Skate

Located on Marine Parade, Bay Skate is suitable for people of all ages and abilities to pick up new skills on skates, blades, a board or a scooter. Equipment hire is also available and group bookings can be made.

Napier Aquatic Centre

Napier Aquatic Centre is an indoor aquatic facility which caters for large group bookings. If you are looking for water-based exercise or fun then the Napier Aquatic Centre can cater for you. There are three pools including two lap pools and a learners pool with a depth of 0.85 metres, an outdoor picnic area and spray park, as well as two waterslides!
