Operating Under the Traffic Light System

We would like to share the latest update on our COVID-19 precautions with regards to your upcoming booking.

We are heading into a full and fun summer holiday period but the current environment will bring us challenges that we are working through while maintaining our core focus, which is to help create enjoyable experiences for all our guests. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

From 20 December 2021 we will be operating under the Government’s new traffic light system (also known as the COVID-19 Protection Framework). Our restaurant Storkey’s and Conference Room are operating under this system from 3 December 2021.

The safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and community are our top priority, and for that reason we have made the decision to require everyone aged 12 and over who comes to Kennedy Park Resort to show their My Vaccine Pass or an official medical exemption.

This applies to all services and activities within the Resort including Storkey’s Restaurant, our Conference Room as well as our playgrounds and our swimming pool complex.

What this means for our guests

  • All guests, guests’ visitors, conference delegates, contractors, and suppliers must show their My Vaccine Pass on entry, or an official medical exemption.
  • All guests’ visitors must report to our reception on arrival
  • Tracer app scanning will be in place on arrival and other areas of the facility such as Storkey’s Restaurant
  • Masks must be worn in our reception area and Storkey’s Restaurant.

We want to assure you that we’re taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and are following Ministry of Health guidelines including the following:

  • Restrictions on numbers in certain areas i.e. reception, Storkey’s Restaurant and Conference room
  • All public areas and our reception are being cleaned multiple times per day
  • Storkey’s Restaurant is open with My Vaccine Pass required from 3 December 2021
  • Cashless transactions are to be processed using Paywave

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the traffic light system (also known as the COVID-19 Protection Framework) affect me as a user of your facility?
Everyone aged 12 or over will need to present a My Vaccine Pass or an official medical exemption to a staff member to be verified before entering.

Do I still have to scan the QR code or sign in, and wear a face covering?
Yes, you are still required to scan your QR code for signing in. According to Government guidelines under the new traffic light system, face coverings are required in our reception area, restaurant and conference room.

Why have you decided to opt into the traffic light system?
We have carefully considered the implications of the traffic light system on our business and team, as the safety and wellbeing of customers, staff and communities is of top priority.
Kennedy Park Resort is managed by Napier City Council. Council has health and safety obligations to staff, contractors, suppliers and general members of the public.  COVID-19 poses a very real and serious risk, and those health and safety obligations means it must take reasonably practicable steps to manage and minimise that risk.

Will staff be vaccinated?
Yes.

If it isn’t compulsory to mandate My Vaccine Pass for staying, why are you doing this?
Camping grounds are not required to request vaccine passes of its customers. However, Kennedy Park Resort has chosen to opt in to the My Vaccine Pass framework after undertaking a risk assessment of the business, and considering the safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and community. A My Vaccine Pass must be shown (or official medical exemption) when staying at Kennedy Park.

What public health measures will continue under this new framework?
There are a number of measures we have in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our customers, team members, and communities.  Some of these include:

  • Restrictions on numbers in certain areas i.e. reception and some common rooms
  • All public areas and our reception are being cleaned multiple times per day
  • Storkey’s Restaurant is open with My Vaccine Pass required from 3 December 2021
  • Cashless transactions are to be processed using Paywave

What if I am unvaccinated?
Staff have the right to refuse entry to people who cannot show a My Vaccine Pass or official medical exemption. Businesses which have opted in to the traffic light system but fail to check certificates or exemptions can be fined up to $12,000, or $15,000 if the Courts impose a fine.

Can I cancel my booking?
If you wish to amend your booking please contact our team and we will assist you with a credit (if preferred by you) or a refund.

Who will be responsible for scanning and checking My Vaccine Passes?  Will you have the appropriate equipment for this?
The staff have the New Zealand Pass Verifier App on their phones and will require all applicable guests, contractors, suppliers, meeting attendees to scan in upon check-in. This also applies to visitors of guests. This is to ensure everyone entering the facility is scanned and verified as double vaccinated.

Where can I find more information on how the traffic light system works?
For general information, and any updates visit the government's COVID-19 website.
