Art Deco Trust
Welcome to the Art Deco Trust in Napier, New Zealand’s Art Deco City.
Nowhere else can you see such a variety of buildings in the styles of the 1930s - Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission, and above all Art Deco, the style of the 20th Century - in such a concentrated area. Century Cinema
The Century Cinema is Hawke’s Bay’s first independently-owned alternative cinema screening the finest of World Cinema since 1990. The cinema is the major user of The Century Theatre which is also used for a variety of live events including music, drama, dance, lectures and conferences. The Century is part of the Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery complex.
The Faraday Centre
The Faraday Centre is dedicated to:
- Providing a resource for educators to use to teach our children about the technology of everyday items
- The preservation and demonstration of regional technology of historical significance
Hawke’s Bay Museum and Art Gallery
Our Museum of Technology Collection incorporates not only machinery but many items of interest to all such as household appliances and gadgets and other articles which were in general use in the past.
The Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery exhibition galleries will close to the public on Sunday 25 July 2010 in order to prepare for HBMAG’s upcoming 18 million dollar redevelopment project. The Century Theatre and Cinema will remain open. The HBMAG Education Service will continue throughout the redevelopment project, operating from the Education Discovery Centre, The Faraday Centre and other sites throughout the region. The Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery will continue to hold events during the redevelopment. Napier Municipal Theatre
The Napier Municipal Theatre’s unique Art Deco heritage has been preserved with the skilful addition of modern theatre facilities making it the best provincial performing arts centre in the nation. The theatre is a model of architectural beauty and Art Deco style and its stage has been graced by international acts and local performers alike.The theatre has a seating capacity of 993. The stunning auditorium is available for hire for everything from stage productions to corporate launches. The circular Pan Pac foyer offers yet another stunning environment in which to entertain, exhibit, conference or simply hold an unforgettable function. Seating 300 theatre-style or 80 banquet-style this attractive foyer is an ideal small entertainment venue complete with full bar servery facilities. The Pan Pac foyer is also home to the Napier agency of Ticketek and TicketDirect two of New Zealand’s largest ticket booking agencies. The friendly and helpful Ticketing staff can assist you with up and coming events and concert bookings nationwide and right here at the Napier Municipal Theatre.
National Aquarium of New Zealand
New Zealand’s largest display of aquatic life and unique New Zealand wildlife, including sharks, piranha, crocodile, kiwi and tuatara. A fun and educational place to visit for all the family. Gannet Beach Adventures

The Dram and Cock Whiskey Bar
The Provincial Hotel is located on the corner of Emerson Street and Clive Square. This gives a nice westerly aspect providing afternoon sun and views across the gardens. Originally established in 1876, the Provincial Hotel was rebuilt in 1932 after the disasterous Napier Earthquake, and is a fine example of the Spanish Mission style. This lovely building now accommodates Hawke’s Bay’s only Whiskey Bar. Taste, sip and savour a dram of Whiskey, Cognac, a glass of Hawke’s Bay wine or a refreshing juice. Enquire about a Whiskey tasting. Cuban cigars available also at the bar.

The Silky Oak Chocolate Company - The name is derived from a 26 metre high Grevillea ‘Sillky Oak’ situated behind the museum. It is listed as one of the notable trees of New Zealand. There is a cafe with a ’sheer indulgence’ theme. Real Hot Chocolate drinks (with or without chilli). Sweet and savoury dishes too. The Museum takes you through the history of chocolate.
